We are interested in studying how the movement of liquid through a pile of granular material affects the stability of the pile. During the transition from dry, to partially wet, to fully wet (whatever that means), stability improves, and then decreases. There exist a variety of mechanisms which can cause a sand pile to collapse via wetting, and we wish to investigate some of these experimentally.
